Day 2 – #12BeersofXmas 2015
Brewery – BrewFist
Location – Codogno, Lodi, Lombardy, Italy
The Drink: Spaghetti Western, Grappa Barrel
ABV: 8.7% – 330ml
Style: Imperial Chocolate Coffee Stout
Quirky ingredients, as per the bottle are; water, barley, malt, oat malt, coffee, cocoa nibs, hop, yeast, spaghetti.
The bottle opens with minimum gas release, unlike me after last night’s (and this afternoon’s) kebab and it pours with minimal carbonation.
In the glass it is a dark, silky liquid with a quickly dispersing and very thin tan head.
For the sake of documentation I’m drinking bottle 848 of 1092 produced.
The aroma is dominated by strong chocolate, some raw coffee and a good hint of alcohol from the barrel.
As an antithesis to the aroma the taste is very much liquor, dominating the coffee and then chocolate in a not unpleasant burn on the tongue. It drinks smooth though and the after taste if very much roasted notes and coffee.
It has to be said I did not detect any pasta during the consumption of this drink.
Thanks for reading.
Auguri di Buon Natale
